USMC Mess Night Personalized Invitations: A Guest Post

In my absence I will be featuring a number of guest posters, but today’s guest post is really just me shamelessly plugging a friend’s blog and business.  Why?  Because I love her stuff THAT much.  She offered to let me use any post from her blog I’d like and I opted to choose a post that combines two things I adore: Handmade stuff and the USMC.  I won’t go into what a Mess Night is, but suffice it to say that it’s one of the best and most ridiculous traditions that the Marine Corps has all rolled up into one night.  Of course, as a spouse, I don’t get to attend, but the stories my husband has shared over the years… Well, mum is probably best.  ;)  Either way, her handmade stationary is absolutely amazing and she has been such a wonderful support to me throughout this difficult time that I wanted to do something to show her how much she means to me.

Be sure to check out her blog and business page KLDesigns Boutique

I had the pleasure of creating personalized invitations for the US Marines { C-130 Crew Chiefs } currently attending  the Sergeants Course.  I chose the Dress Blues design from my “Inspired by Patriotism Collection“ .

There is always something new to learn as a stationery designer; new techniques, new tools, but one thing that amazes me is that there is more that meets the eye. I LOVE that stationery has more depth and personality. Did you know that not all invitations are created equal? Military Invitations have specific rules and regulations based on certain events and who will be attending.  For example, in standard invitations normally the  guest of honor’s name  is added to every personalized invitation so that the recipient knows who the party is for. That is not the case for military stationery. The guest of honor’s name is personalized for one card; while the other invitations have detailed information regarding the event and what uniforms The Marines are required to wear.

I have to say I am head over stationery in love with this design. It reminds me so much of my Marine in his Dress Blue
