One thing I love to eat is steamed broccoli. The trouble is that I don’t have a double boiler or anything else useful to help me get the broccoli steamed. I’m also lazy. But I still want to eat at least a little healthy, so I came up with an easy way to get my veggie fix without much effort.
It really is very basic.
Take broccoli- I buy it in a bag, but a head will work just fine
Cut into medium to small pieces
Put i microwave safe bowl
Dribble a little water in there- a few tablespoons will usually do the trick
Cover with lid- but tightly but with a small edge unsealed to vent a small amount of the pressure
Microwave for 7-10 minutes (depending on your microwave)
EAT!

This is what happens if you seal the lid completely- About 5 minutes in, the lid flew off and I had to stop and fix it.
Now, I’m not one for plain or steamed broccoli if I can have it as something more. Especially since I tend to eat it as a meal VS a side. To make your broccoli fancy, simply add some toppings. I like to put a little soy sauce in with my water and some bacon bits and garlic. It doesn’t effect your cooking time unless you add so much that it creates a considerably larger amount.
Easy, tasty and a great way to get your veggies in a snap.

My mom has always done this, it’s funny I always thought it was a lazy way because my mother in law uses all the fancy steamer and everything.
Then I learned it’s actually the smart way
yummm…one of my favorites as well!

Yum! Though I like to add bacon and cheese so they end not being as healthy. I figure it’s better than not eating them at all athough:)
Hate to ruin your fun, but you can buy them frozen and they steam in the bag! I’m lazy and do it that way.
