Sometimes the Universe Points Its Finger at You and Laughs

Universe There are these funny moments in life when the Universe at Large reminds you exactly who you are meant to be, who you are in your heart and then points its finger at you and laughs.

Me?  I want to be a writer.  In some capacity.  I’m never going to write an award winning novel, but I write because I always have.  It’s what I know, it’s what my soul knows and it’s all my heart knows how to do.  I have a day job (kind of, not really anymore) and I have other things in my life, but if I go very long without writing something, I begin to lose my mind.

Blogging, it just so happens, fills that writing void and I have grown very used to the style of writing in blog post form and the unique parts of what being a blogger is about.  But I’m an anonymous writer, which means living my life and my blogger life at the same time can be a bit challenging.

The fire alarm went off at my house.   Fire truck number one arrives, begins knocking on doors, asking who lives in which unit ect, ect.  Then Fire Truck Number Two arrives just as we neighbors are joking about how they usually send two.  I then laugh and say, if we play our cards right, the aid car will come too.  And sure enough it showed up as well.  Then the police.  The joys of small town living at its best is that everyone and their mom shows up because there is nothing else to do.

As they begin to discuss which units they will have to break into, I suddenly have the urge to take my phone out of my pocket and snap a picture of the three manly and ripped fire fighters standing at my neighbors door, axes in hand, crow bars at the ready, debating how to best break into the unit…

Sadly, ALL of my neighbors were standing around and watching the spectacle too.  That means that the picture would post to my Facebook fan page, then someone would see it, then someone in my complex would figure out that Miss Snarkypants is actually someone they know.

It would have been an epic photo.

About A Girl

A Girl is a 20 something blogger who began blogging in 2008 as a means of coping with a deployment. She is a Veterinary Technician by trade and loves her work in Emergency and Critical Care. They have been married for four years, have three, very bratty dogs, and are currently trying to muddle through the aftermath of a difficult deployment for both.
