A Delayed Christmas Reaction

Christmas is a funny thing.  Each year, it seems to be less and less of a big deal in my house.  My husband doesn’t seem to care one way or the other and I often end up working. This year, I had the added stress of my grandfather being ill and family issues to cope with and it just seems to have gotten away from me. We didn’t decorate, we didn’t really wrap presents and to make matters worse, I suffered an intense migraine that required treatment at Urgent Care two weeks before Christmas and had me bed ridden.  Then I developed a cold that turned into bronchitis and was in bed for another week, right up until Christmas Eve.  Not really a great way to get into the Christmas Spirit. A New Christmas Tradition

You’ll see this question posted on nearly every Facebook fan page known to man, “Real or fake Christmas trees?  What’s your take?” or some variation thereof.  This is the single most popular question I have seen this Christmas season.  More than wondering if you are a last minute shopper, favorite holiday traditions or best holiday dish, the Real vs Fake debate has been raging on for weeks. I don’t really care if you have a real tree or a fake one.  My motto for just about everything in life is “to each his own.”  But before you spout off that it just isn’t Christmas without a REAL tree, let me tell you a little about my family and our own budding Christmas tradition. Last Minute Shopping, Meet 2012 Small Business Christmas Shopping Guide

  If you are anything like me, you are the most efficient Christmas shopper on the planet.  You have your gifts thought out well in advance and purchased months before the holiday rush begins… With the exception of this year, in which case you will have to admit that you have yet to purchase a single gift… Shhh, don’t tell anyone, I want it to be a surprise when their gifts are late.   But, lucky for me, there happens to be this pretty amazing shopping guide that was put together by the lovely Kathryn Sneed over at Singing Through The Rain.  It comprises only small businesses and many of these little shops offer handmade items.
